Pre Election Political Campaign, with all the local Candidates, up at Bath Uni. BAC’s, Bath Trades Council, UCU & Protect our NHS BANES went up to the Uni for a lunchtime, to get the Students to sign the Save our NHS petition. We gave them information about their NHS & what would happen if more privatisation was to go ahead. A good reception, even though the Lib Dems didn’t want us to set up next to them. We had been there previously but Uni Security didn’t want us there. Last time the Police were threatened but not this time… Many thanks to UCU for the support they gave us both times.
John, Barbara, Sylvia, Simon (Equality & Diversity Officer at Bath Uni) & i were with 38 Degrees Bath/Protect our NHS Bath, in Green Park to collect signatures for the Save our NHS 38 Degrees National campaign.
IBath Against Cuts, Bath STW, 38 Degrees Bath, BSAFAC’s and Bath Unite in the Community, joined together in March, outside Bath JCP. We went to demonstrate against the unfair (& cruel) DWP Benefit Sanctions.
David Cameron came to Bath, to say hello. We (John, Michael C, Barbara, Mike W (& Bath Students against Fees & Cuts) said other things to him. nb very rare footage of the author of this & of the Bath Mafioso.
John, BSAFAC’s & I went over to the People’s Assembly against Austerity march, in Bristol. Organised by 6th Formers & a fabulous job they did. Estimated 4,000 people attended.
Peoples Assembly against Austerity Bristol.
I really love this photo. BAC’s went to the Vice Chancellor’s Birthday Party. This was to celebrate the Vice Chancellor earning more in a month than some staff, also employed by Bath Uni, get in a year. Organised by BSAFAC’s. The Students from Bath Spa & Bath Uni are all fabulous. As a Student in the 70’s/80’s, i remember us all being (quite rightly) angry. The Bath Students i know are happy & motivated. They get people involved by being great to be around.
John, Barbara & I went to the Global Justice Conference Take Back Our World! conference. A fantastic day event, organised by Global Justice UK, held in the Whitechapel, London. It was an opportunity to be educated, be entertained, and organise for a world not ruled by the priorities of big business. Talks on Food sovereignty • Latin America’s alternative • Energy justice • Art and social change • Fighting TTIP and corporate power • Reversing privatisation • Resisting dirty energy • Movement building. More details in the link below but we were able to sit & listen to Paul Mason, Natalie Bennett, Peter Kennard & Jeremy Corbyn. If you get the chance, get signed up for their e-mails. They aren’t just in London, so if you can, get involved in Bristol. http://www.globaljustice.org.uk/our-world
